Job Description

Bookkeeper – S&B Private

S&B Private is the Colombo office of an Australian chartered accounting practice.

We are seeking an English-speaking, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a bookkeeper servicing our Australian clientele.

Tax compliance

  • Preparation of business activity statements and other tax compliance obligations of our clients.
  • Preparation and referencing of workpapers including bank reconciliation, fixed asset register, intercompany loan accounts, payroll, FX calculations, etc.
  • Proactively manage bookkeeping lodgement list and coordinate with internal teams and client teams to ensure that compliance filing deadlines are identified and met in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the ATO and client in relation to tax payments, lodgements, payment plans, and interest remissions.


  • Maintain bank reconciliations.
  • Process sales invoices and manage debtor function and follow up.
  • Manage end-to-end AP process including processing bills, reconcile supplier statements against our client records, and prepare AP reports.
  • Payroll preparation and processing.
  • Manage accounts email and correspondence with stakeholders.
  • Prepare and lodge client compliance obligations including BAS statements, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, etc.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including analytical review within the required time frames.
  • Calculate and post intercompany transactions such as interest charges and service fee invoices.
  • Lead month-end close process including AR/AP cutoff, bank/loan reconciliations, and posting of month-end journals.

Experience and qualifications

  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, finance, or accounting.
  • Studying towards CA/CIMA/ACCA/CPA (not compulsory).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience gained in a professional services firm or BPO.
  • Prior experience working with Australian clients will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to build rapport and relationships with English-speaking internal and external stakeholders.

This is not a remote position. The applicant must be available to attend our offices in Colombo full-time.
