Job Description

The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing all legal matters within the organization. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CLO provides strategic legal guidance and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Salary Range: 700,00LKR to 1,200,00LKR (Please note that the salary scale provided is subject to negotiation and may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience)

Responsibilities

National Initiatives Pertaining To Digital Laws

  •   Leading the adoption of emerging digital technologies within the country’s legal environment.
  • Collaborating with government stakeholders to develop necessary laws and regulations for digital solutions.
  • Reviewing existing digital laws and recommending amendments as required.
  • Implementing strategies to adopt international legal best practices.
  •  Creating strategies to protect the digital landscape and enforce cyber laws.
  •  Promoting capacity building for cyber laws among high-level stakeholders.
  •  Developing international collaborations for national cyber laws.
  •  Staying updated with global trends in digital technologies and legal frameworks.
  •  Providing expertise on legal matters related to digital technologies.
  •  Collaborating to raise awareness and ensure compliance with cyber laws.
  • Engaging in policy advocacy and representing the agency in forums.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of legal frameworks.
  • Supporting internal teams on legal matters related to digital solutions.

Institutional Legal Matters

  •  Providing innovative and practical legal leadership for digital and information system contracts.
  •  Offering independent advice to the board and management, including legal relationship reviews and ongoing litigation.
  •  Providing counsel on labour matters.

Requirements

  •  LLB degree and an Attorney-at-Law with postgraduate qualifications in relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in a leadership role, showcasing a track record of achieving significant business growth while nurturing sustainable relationships.
  • Experience in the public sector is considered advantageous.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with relevant legal frameworks, regulations, and emerging trends in digital technologies.
