Job Description

The Job:

  • Upgrade the roaming network to enhance the roaming experience and business gain by implementing new systems.
  • Conduct operations in the roaming signalling network to minimize downtime and eliminate service interruptions for international roaming and international SMS services of Dialog.
  • Perform day-to-day operations in the roaming systems and Dialog core network elements according to business requirements to ensure the best service for customers.
  • Coordinate with SS7 carriers to enhance the roaming signalling network for optimal utilization and redundancy.
  • Monitor and optimize SS7 roaming signalling links to maintain quality.
  • Monitor the downtime of roaming signalling links and take necessary actions to minimize signalling loss.
  • Coordinate with IPX/GRX carriers to enhance the roaming signalling network for optimal utilization and redundancy.
  • Monitor and optimize IPX/GRX roaming signalling links to maintain quality.
  • Monitor the downtime of roaming signalling links and take necessary actions to minimize signalling loss.
  • Provide and supervise 24×7 technical support for the roaming signalling network.
  • Continuously monitor roaming signalling traffic, proactively identify issues, and take necessary steps to secure revenue and ensure better quality.
  • Implement and optimize new roaming technologies to stay at the forefront of new trends (4G/5G, etc.).
  • Optimize and configure the roaming IPN system to achieve business unit targets.
  • Make modifications and configurations in the SIGOS System.
  • Perform SIGOS testing as requested by other divisions for testing roaming scenarios.
  • Provide technical support to the roaming service operation to timely resolve roaming complaints and ensure higher customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical support to network operations to timely resolve international SMS-related complaints with high customer satisfaction.
  • Contact foreign networks, SCCP gateways, and hubs to ensure immediate resolution of customer complaints.
  • Responsible for conducting testing related to launching new roaming partners to increase the number of roaming agreements for GSM, CAMEL, 3G, and GPRS services.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting network issues with roaming partners.
  • Support roaming partners for their ad hoc testing requirements and provide technical support for their network-related activities to maintain a good relationship.
  • Conduct roaming testing for effective internal systems upgrades, migrations, new services and products, and PLAs initiated by various internal technical and non-technical divisions to ensure proper functionality for IN/OUT roamers.
  • Conduct operator requested short tests.
  • Conduct periodic roaming testing for further improvements.
  • Ensure functionality and good quality of service.

The Person:

  • A B.Sc. degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science from a recognized Sri Lankan university accredited by IESL, or a B.Sc. degree in Engineering from a foreign university accredited by the relevant body of the relevant country, or an AMIE (SL), or B.Tech from a university accredited by IESL, or an AMIE (SL).
  • NVQ level 5/IVQ level 5 qualification is a must: City and Guilds Advanced Diploma, HNDE, NDT, NDES, Diploma in Technology (OUSL), Advanced Diploma in Telecommunications Technology, Advanced Diploma in Constructive Technology, National Diploma in Engineering Technology, etc., with 2-3 years of post-experience in the required field of Electronics & Telecommunications/Electronics/Electrical & Electronics or Computer trade.
  • Knowledge of software programming, Linux/Solaris server management, etc.
