Job Description

This role’s responsibilities are divided into 4 key areas:

People leadership:

  • Drive hiring and talent management, including onboarding, team rotations, leaving employee handling, etc…
  • Actively drive the growth of your direct reports leveraging Veve’s engineering career ladder
  • Manage performance and compensation in a fair and transparent way
  • Create and nurture an environment that encourages teams to take ownership of their work and solve problems autonomously, fostering continuous learning and innovation.

Engineering practice:

  • Use system thinking to optimise value delivery in the organisation, and help teams unblock obstacles
  • Participate in defining key metrics for systems owned by teams, and help create a consistent and transparent Engineering Health framework across the organisation
  • Ensure alignment and adoption of engineering best practices and facilitate healthy technical discussions when appropriate to ensure cross-team alignment

Strategy and influence:

  • Be an advocate for the Product and Organizational visions and develop adjoining strategies
  • Pro-actively build and nurture a trusted stakeholder network across the organisation
  • Understands the constraints placed on the business and demonstrate flexibility to adapt to those constraints

Operations:

  • Establish and own our incident management process
  • Constantly monitor our operating cost

Skills and expertise:

  • Consistently demonstrate people development and leadership skills including, motivating, coaching, mentoring and empowering
  • Comprehensive experience leading teams in designing and developing large scale, high use apps
  • Ability to use strategic and system thinking to develop coherent strategies to scale an organisation
  • Outcome oriented, understanding the importance of engineering with purpose
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative, while demonstrating superior collaboration skills
  • Highly approachable, with experience leading people from diverse background and culture in a remote environment
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute to new ideas required in a diverse, fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
