Job Description

Grants & Partnerships Associate

Purpose:

Responsible for developing partnerships with a multitude of stakeholders that are relevant for the foundation. Manage the partnership and grant pipeline, which includes focusing on the process of applying for and obtaining grants and funding, and following up with regular meetings and reporting on progress. Design and implement successful resource mobilization volunteer efforts for MAS employees. Oversee the communication strategy for social media and other relevant channels and contribute to the overall goals and operations of the Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for Projects & Grants

  • Lead the program/project proposal development process, seeking medium-large multi-year funding opportunities for integrated sustainable programs.
  • Lead the development of the grant management system.
  • Be the point of contact on grants with donor field offices.
  • Review grant documents and advise management on donor compliance, policies, and procedures.

Manage Partnerships

  • Play a crucial role in developing strategic partnerships with institutional donors, INGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings with donor field offices and report progress.

Manage and Conduct Reporting

  • Develop and manage the proposal and report development calendar.
  • Lead the development of grant reports, both narrative and financial, and share with the Director for review 72 hours before deadlines.
  • Conduct regular meetings to review grant status with the headquarters grants team.

  • Develop and implement volunteerism programs for participation by MAS employees.
  • Contribute to the overall management and operations of the Foundation, including aspects such as governance, budgeting, resourcing, communications, administration, etc.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the MAS Holdings Sustainable Business Team and other departments as required.

Qualifications & Specific Experience Required:

  • Graduate in a related field.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of proven track record of raising and managing significant funding from a range of institutional donors such as USAID, DFID, ECHO, and others through partnerships or directly.
  • NGO/INGO or similar experience.
  • Experience working on developing grant reports.
  • Experience in managing partners and creating a network.
  • Having a good understanding of environmental law in Sri Lanka.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with limited guidance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in communication with donors and other project stakeholders.
  • Project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and drive tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced, rapid environment.
  • Experience in Ocean Pollution and Biodiversity.
  • Ability to write comprehensive grant reports.
  • Understanding how to manage donor funding.
