We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager Country Data.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data and Analytics strategy for Sri Lanka and Maldives
  • Implement data projects and programs for Sri Lanka and Maldives in alignment with country regulatory requirements
  • Implement Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) for HSBC Sri Lanka
  • Function as the Data Protection Officer and related responsibilities customarily attached to the role as the Country Data Lead for meeting compliance towards country level regulatory and legislative requirements applicable for Sri Lanka and Maldives. Includes Data controls implementation on Data Storage, Data Usage, Data Movement and Data Privacy.
  • Lead collaboration and engagement with the multiple Lines of Businesses in the bank, IT and Risk Stewards to communicate the Group Data Strategy, key regional and global Data & Analytics Office initiatives and lead the delivery of data strategy in HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives
  • Data commercialization in liaison with business lines using data driven insights and working with Lines of businesses to identify customer leads, cross selling opportunities and product penetration. Generate data driven intelligence to achieve competitive advantage
  • Manage and monitor Data Quality processes, remediation, issues and reporting. Accountable for reporting of progress, issues, dependencies and risks to stakeholders including the Country Data Executive Council
  • Support the uplift of data literacy in Sri Lanka & Maldives. Includes hosting country growth enablement forums and Data Literacy initiatives.
  • Information life cycle Management for Sri Lanka and Maldives – Includes the management of physical paper archival and destruction, having in place the Country Records Retention Schedule and Department Records Retention Schedule and annually reviews of same

Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science/Information technology with specialization in Big data/ data science or data management
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a role managing data development projects, data analytics and leading data teams
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Power BI, Qlik sense, Google Cloud, AWS and Jupytor notebook
  • Experience in managing and configuring cloud environments and data warehouse administration
  • Exposure to cyber security, data protection practices and knowledge of data protection laws (GDPR, PDPA)
  • Experience in project Management and agile working set up
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), including advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills.
  • Having affiliations with professional bodies e.g. BCS etc. will be an added advantage
