IREX seeks a Program Assistant that will support the management of a program(s) in the field; supports the development of project work products, to include but not limited to, program timelines, budgets, reports, and other products/documents as Identified.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Project Director, the Program Assistant will coordinate with designated media outlets, partner organizations, service providers, consultants and individuals to assist in the smooth implementation of program activities.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1+ years relevant experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Knowledge of USAID donor requirements preferred.
  • Knowledge of media or media development, program management, logistics and coordination.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of partner organizations including digital media, local CSOs and private service providers.
  • Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in English is required. Additional proficiency in Sinhala and Tamil is strongly preferred.
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
  • Professionalism in written correspondence and report writing, strong presentation and oral communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work in a multicultural environment, work remotely and travel outside Colombo.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted work authorization in Sri Lanka.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Provide direct coordination with selected media outlets and partners to manage technical assistance, training, and other support.
  • Support the relevant program staff in all aspects of program implementation to ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
  • Coordinate the activities that are directly implemented by IREX in support of the program objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between technical experts, designated media organizations and program partners.
  • Provide guidance on training plans and activities.
  • Provide occasional translation of documents, virtual sessions, and social media posts to and from English and local languages as requested.
  • Maintain a database of IREX’s partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders in the country.
  • Gather market intelligence as directed by the Project/Deputy Project Director.
  • Maintain complete records and a database of activities including meetings, consultations, trainings, and information required for monitoring and evaluation reporting.
  • Review beneficiary reports, deliverables, and documentation for compliance with programmatic requirements, with guidance from the program staff.
  • Support the program staff with procurement and grant awarding.
  • Support the program staff in budgeting exercises.
  • Work with the program staff to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Other support duties as needed.

This position is eligible for Telework. The eligible employee is a regular, full-time Sri Lanka-based staff who works from a worksite outside the Sri Lanka office for one or more days a week.

This position is not eligible for Immigration Sponsorship.
