Vacancy for Project Coordinator 

National Intensive Care Surveillance – Mahidol Oxford Research Unit 



Nat- Intensive Care Surveillance- M.O.R.U (NICS-MORU) is a Sri Lanka based Non profit organisation, established in 2013 led by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and researchers  from clinical care and academic backgrounds. The purpose of NICS-MORU is to improve acute and critical care health services for communities internationally, but with a focus on Low- and lower middle income countries. To achieve this the organisation combines expertise in research, education, technology and clinical care. NICS-MORU develops and curates a cloud based digital platform which facilitates near- real time data capture of clinical and service delivery information, and then makes available for its users, via bespoke user specific online portals. This platform facilitates  data collection for clinical research and is central to the Wellcome 17 country CRIT Care Asia- Africa programme, as well as other national and international projects including for the WHO. NICS-MORU, has a track record in developing, implementing and curating acute and critical care registries in low and lower middle income countries adhering to the FAIR principals. Its research is frontline, pragmatic and focused on improving information availability and health information systems, to build capacity for locally driven quality improvement, research and service provision interventions. 

Duties and responsibilities:

The post holder will work across the NICS-MORU themes as follows

  • Work closely with the research teams to support the management and curation of data and to ensure the accurate and complete submission of study datasets and associated documentation involving direct communication with data contributors from around the globe. 
  • Work closely with the development team to develop novel online tools and visualisations, applications and methods for processing, analysing and reporting data that are requested by the network collaborators.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to NICS-MORU trials and research activities across the Asia and Africa continents.
  • Support the writing and editing of key documents including study protocols, ethics applications and project summaries & briefs for national and international clinical trials.
  • Support preparations for conferences, meetings and events including contributing to publications, abstracts, posters, presentations and related material.
  • To ensure research governance principles are abided to in data recording, where appropriate in compliance with Good Research Practice, Good Laboratory Practice, and Good Clinical Practice 

To qualify, candidates need to have the following competencies and skills. 

  • Reading Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science or Arts from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 3 -12 months’ experience in a similar capacity. 
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and collaborate with clinical and non-clinical researchers across a range of geographies
  • Strong networking, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies and collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Ambition to undertake academic training including MSc, PhD across disciplines; data science, global health, public health and policy planning, business management.
