Job Description

Due to rapid growth Superloop is looking to recruit a Senior Network Operations Engineer to start as soon as possible, to support our customers as part of our broader group operations with Superloop.

Exetel’s Colombo office is located in CBD Business Centre, Colombo 1. Our Senior Network Operations Engineers cover a 24x7x365 roster and support Superloop customers across voice, data, network monitoring and other connectivity solutions.

Your Team

Our NOC Tier 2 Team is a team of network support engineers that act as a point of escalation for our network operations and frontline support staff. They primarily support our enterprise, wholesale and international customers to manage and resolve technical issues relating to the various connectivity products we provide to the market.

What will you do?

The Senior NOC Engineer is a technical specialist with extensive experience, and a skill and knowledge base across layer 2 and layer 3 connectivity products. Responsibilities include:

  • Answer inbound calls and tickets raised directly from customers and internal stakeholders and staff.
  • Troubleshoot and support layer 2 and layer 3 protocols (eg: spanning tree, Vlans, BGP, MPLS) supporting connectivity, data, voice and infrastructure issues.
  • Design and document network implementation.
  • Configure and utilise network monitoring tools (eg: Traverse, OpenNMS, cacti, etc) to ensure maximum uptime and identification of any network issues.
  • Take timely and appropriate action to resolve any issues that may arise;
  • Act as an escalation point for frontline team members, including managing any communication with the customer;
  • Update account managers and key stakeholders as required.
  • Categorise incidents and follow the respective incident management processes (P1,P2, P3).
  • Create and update network support documentation and diagrams as required;
  • Configure customer devices remotely, such as routers and switches, and coordinate dispatch.
  • Follow ticket hygiene and handover process.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Minimum5 years of experience in a Telecommunications/ISP/Broadband service provider
  • Knowledge and experience with networking products includingJuniper, Cisco and Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Solid personal experience with modems, routers, networking and broadband services
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Able to work a 24x7x365 roster including on-call
  • Sound understanding of the following technologies:

○ P Protocols (CMP, UDP, TCP);

○ P filtering and firewalling; Routing Protocols (BGP,OSPF,EIGRP);

○ Quality of Service;


○ Ethernet (STP, RSTP, q VLAINs, QinQ)

○ Working knowledge of B-RAS I LNS I L2TP I DSL

  • Knowledge of nbn products, specifically TC4, TC2 and EE would be advantageous
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team in a high-pressure environment
  • Able to analyse problems and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery.
  • Capable of prioritising and managing own workload.
  • Keen to contribute ideas, share knowledge and help others develop.
  • Interest in leading edge technologies. Keen to develop own skills and knowledge.
